With the FIFA 2017 Under 17 Worldcup that garnered headlines and countrywide enthusiasm, we as a fine sports facility in country have set the ball rolling for many more international events to occur. Two years after the exciting Football Worldcup at DY Patil Sports Stadium, we have geared up again for yet another global event.
This time it is the Women’s FIFA Under 17 Worldcup 2020. The best female football players in the world in the Under 17 category will be seen playing for their respective teams, competing for the coveted Worldcup. Our Sports stadium is set to experience an even bigger surge of youth and football enthusiasts watching, cheering and taking a collective breath in anticipation.
As we are approaching the end of the 5th month of 2019, the preparations for the big event begin with a fateful visit from the stakeholders of FIFA 2020. Roma Khanna, along with Henry Menezes, CEO Western India Football Asssociation and Mr. Soutervaz, Secretary at Western India Football Association, arrived for the purpose of a site reconnaissance and inspection. They were thoroughly satisfied with the state of affairs at our sports academy; the infrastructure, the stadium and the facilities.
After the nod of approval from these delegates, it is safe to say that the preparations can now begin in full-swing. A second FIFA Worldcup being hosted in India, at our campus is a matter of great pride for everyone who is a part of DY Patil University, Navi Mumbai. DY Patil Sports Academy having gained global acclaim due to diligent effort s and ingenuity on our President, Dr. Vijay Patil’s part, has led to the beginning of a momentum that brings international sports to our nation with increasing frequency.
