Indians had their first real taste of the new, exciting T20 format when the Dr. D.Y. Patil Sports Academy (DYPSA) organised the country’s first official T20 tournament in 2005.

The tournament, was initially conducted at the university ground, however, in light of its success and popularity the matches were moved to the D. Y. Patil Stadium in the third year.The tournament, played according to international rules, regularly attracts 100,000 spectators over the week during which the matches are played.

 

 

Some of India’s most prominent corporate sides have taken part in the tournament. These include Air India, Tata Sports Club, ONGC, Indian Oil, BPCL, State Bank of Travencore and the State Bank of Mysore. Many of these teams featured several India superstars including Zaheer Khan, Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Rohit Sharma, Ishant Sharma, Praghyan Ojha, and Yusuf Pathan.
